What a week its been.. other than having to work (gasp) its been like a holiday for me. Oldest son headed north with some friends to a cottage, youngest son went to help his grandmothers for a week and the biggest kid got on his motorbike and took off to the East Coast with his friends. They all come home around Sunday.. not looking forward to it *grin*
In the mean time I’ve been just as busy not only in my RL but in SL.
Been spending time in a great new club run by some good friends Alex and Myg, called Clockwork. What I like about this club is, no sploders, no stupid “lets see how much you can take off without being totally nude” events, no dancers emoting fake sexual suggestions in order to gain tips. All it consists of is people listening to great music and stimulating conversation.. what a concept huh?

We attended a dragon drum circle.. yes Dragons love to dance.. they just need LOTS of room to do it.

Lots of stuff going on this weekend, would have loved to attend all of it but my weekend was taken up by the Blogher Conference. Another amazing concept.
Pic of keiko, a live singer, entertaining us with her guitar and wonderful voice

I logged in too late on Friday to catch most of the panels, but did catch one on privacy and security. the panel consisted of Miranda Tibbit, Queen Tureaud and SLBloggers own Lillie Yifu. Great panel, good questions and good discussion ladies. Lillie has the log from that discussion posted on her blog HERE. I could add a ton to this discussion with my own experiences and observations but when it comes right down to it there really isn’t anything I can add to what Lillie stated during the discussion. About the only thing I can add is to just use your head, we teach our children how not to give out information about themselves in order to protect them from predators, we as adults need to listen to the same advice. We hear too many horror stories of women who have let someone into their online lives and told too much about themselves and found that someone calling or showing up on their doorsteps. Relationships online can be fun and exciting but keep it in prospective.
Saturday was another good day of panels and discussions. One I found very interesting was the interview with Elizabeth Edwards, wife of Presidential candidate John Edwards. I am a Canadian, I really don’t care (personally) for American politics until its all over and done with and a president is announced. What I do find interesting about it all is how the wives of the candidates have a large voice in what her husband’s are doing, she is in the public eye about as much as he is. This is something we don’t see here in Canada that often. Our candidates’ wives tend to stand in the background and smile pretty for the camera if they are interviewed they seem to be mini clones of their husbands and say what is expected of them. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a candidates wife say I believe in this yet my husband believes in that. Its nice to see that in American politics, even tho she supports her husband she still has her own mind and opinions and states them.
I met many new people and my friends list grew. I think I also spent hours helping a lot these new people getting adjusted to the ins and outs of SL, answering questions and explaining how to do this or that. I have always tried to help out new people and have created folders for both men and women containing items like a nice skin some clothes and shoes to help get them going. I’m always looking for free items that are transferable and that look great (why give them junk when there are so many nice things to be found) We make a lot of fun of noobs but sometimes people forget, we were all noobs at one time or another. I have a hard and fast rule with noobs tho.. if they ask me for money they wont get it. Ask me a reasonable question and listen to what I tell you, i will help you out in any way I can.
One person I met over the weekend was a girl named Gidge, her bright, bubbly enthusiasm was pretty infectious and I took a liking to her instantly. She invited me to her club on Friday as an impromptu party for the Blogher’s. We proceeded to try and haul in as many people as we could find to get this party happening. We managed to get a few and the party got into full swing. I have a chim for dancing and for some strange reason it sits over my butt.. after inviting everyone to “slap my butt” and a lot of giggling we were all dancing merrily. I felt sorry for poor Lillie, I invited her to come along, she arrived and crashed tried to log in again only to crash again. She finally got online and was able to say hi when the unexpected happened. We were dancing one second and flying up thru the air the next.. I think I went about 10,000m up before I realized what had happened. Seems Gidge’s friend Vicent has some pay dance pads that were occupied by bots, he doesn’t mind paying out to actual players but bots irritate him (and yes I can agree with him on that) he hit his script and sent us all flying. This happened within seconds of Lillie logging back in to some stability, the poor girl never did get to party with us. (I’m really sorry Lillie) Once we got back to earth and figured out what happened along with apologies we continued the party. (Vicent.. I want that script!!!)
Saturday evening came with a whole lot of SL problems, no search, no map, and no TP. DesertWolf and I were held captive at this great club we frequent called The Neko Club. Nice club for anyone that is a Neko, good music provided by the owner Cleopatra. No one could TP in or out, so we made the best of things and just had a great time till SL straightened out (somewhat) I found that rather than bitch about all the things that go wrong just make the best of things and go with the flow.. it can be a lot more fun that way.
all in all its been a fun weekend..I did lots and learned lots an met some awesome people, now its back to reality, Hubby got back from his bike trip sunburnt and butt sore and I’m expecting the rest of the crew to bounce in any time now. *sigh* I wonder if I can farm them out again soon?
last pic.. this for you ladies looking for companions..I seem to find them in the strangest places…

(btw, this one’s mine..I found him fair and square.. get your own)

Lovely picture of DW, especially with the shoes sticking out
The Neko Club seems to be visited mostly by people in your timezone, as evertime I TP there, its mostly empty … guess I’ll have to plan some late night/early morning SL time soon to check it out again
Timothy, you should try to make it some time, there have been a dead night there, but every other time has been fun. It is pretty much a neko crowd, an occasional furry or human will check it out, but hey thats good too. Check the events to see what they have going.
